I'm wondering if there's any way to write an applescript or mel script to email a user if a batch render fails. Do you know of anything that would do this? I was thinking MEL might not work if Maya itself crashed?
I know very little about MEL and Applescript, but I thought it might be possible to have a "listener" of sorts analyzing the batch render process, and if the process was not responding for a period of time it would email you. Sort of an alarm telling you that you should check the render.
I've had numerous issues with Maya 2008 and 2009 crashing while batch rendering. I wake up to a folder that has 10% of what I truly need for the animation.
Has anyone heard of anything like this? I think some render management software can do this, but I'm not certain.
