Changing up textures

Date:03/13/2014
Submitted by: Dirk Pepperd Dirk Pepperd
I purchased this model today it looks really good. I'll be honest... I'm a complete noob at 3D but have a decent amount of skill at Photoshop. I was able to find a program to work with the image called Meshlab. Finally did enough reading and web searching to figure out that the JPG file is used to apply the texture layer. I only found the main JPG can you please help me out with how to access the rest that are available?

Also this is probably a really dumb question, but here goes. I want to get this printed out by a place called Shapeways. Can a design like this with the different colors/logos etc. be printed out like that without having to paint it?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Sincerely,

Dirk

Hi, sorry for the late replay, was on businesstour. I hope i understand you right. You have become 5 textures with the model. The textur "sides" is the main textur with all the sides of the container. The 2 Doors are seperate textures. The frame and the locking bars are not so important for your project. You can load the jpg into photoshop an change with a new layer the colour, font etc. Its not so easy because the jpg is a uvmaped texture with all surfaces ot the model. Can send you a wireframe of the texture, there you can exactly see where the right side, left side, top ect. are. Then load the new texture and that's it. I hope you understand my bad english. Regards

Thanks for your reply good to hear from you. Yes if you can send a wireframe that would be great. I was able to edit the texture map for the sides with Photoshop. I get that part. I am wanting to get this printed out by a company called Shapeways. (www.shapeways.com) Since I do not understand enough about 3D it is causing me issues trying to print this with them. If you can help me figure this out I would greatly appreciate it. 1. I tried to upload the .OBJ files to their site and had some trouble. I finally got it to accept one of the files for the door but it was too big to print out as the door was about 10 inches by 10 inches. I am not sure how to resize the model so they can print it out on a smaller scale. 2. I have not figured out if it is possible to print this out with the artwork just how it appears with the logos and decal markings on it. I love the model you did a great job on it! I would just like to be able to have this made so it's about 10 inches long. Thanks! Dirk

Hi, my pooblem is that i know not much about 3d-printing. When the model has to big dimensions, you can scale down the model. The texture is uvmapped and scale with the model. When you have not 3d programm you can test Blender. It's free and can import and export obj-files.
