Bugs

Deleting meshes using outliner.

When selecting a mesh or multiple meshes using the outliner I cannot delete them unless I click in the viewport and manipulate the mesh first with one of the tranform tools (move, rotate, scale) it's a little annoying.
Would be ace if this could be changed somehow.

Cheers,
Jacob.

That's not how it should work, obviously :) Is it just "delete" that doesn't work, or do other keyboard commands not work either? (assuming you try delete through the keyboard) And is it just with meshes that this problem occurs, or with other object types as well? Also, just to make sure, you're not in some kind of sub-object mode, right?

So I messed around with it a bit this morning to find the actual source of the problem. Repro steps as follows, -Select anything in the outliner then alt + middle or alt + right mouse click in the viewport. -Try to delete using the delete key it will not work unless you use a transform tool. I should also note that I am using the dRaster “Switcher” plugin for the maya viewport controls, so I am not sure if this even occurs using the default max setup or what the key + mouse equivalent would be. So yeah, pretty small bug in all and I can quite easily work around it personally. I guess if the default max controls don’t have any issue with it then it’s an even smaller issue. Cheers, Jacob.

So with dRaster Switcher, what happens when you alt+middle or alt+rmb in the viewport? I just tried if the "standard" behavior for alt+rmb and any of the other modifier keys works, and I could not find any problem there. Even if the focus is on the Outliner, it will bring up the different quad-menus.

alt+middle = viewport pan. alt+rmb = zoom. I couln't find any issue with any other click combo, just those 2. I think it may just be a glitch... between the 2 plugins.

Ah I didn't realise you meant "click-dragging". I tried that, at this seems to work fine for me too (without Switcher). So I'm guessing that it is, as you say, some kind of glitch between the two tools. It's hard to say what's causing it though...

Yeah, bit of a weird one. Oh well, good that it doesn't occur with the default settings. And it's still very useable with switcher, now that I know how to get around it ;)
