A general purpose bone texture. To adjust for certain bones the best place to start is with the "place2dTexture" node changing only the repeat UV (in its Attribute editor) in egual amounts between 0.2 and 2.5 should work for most human bones. This will effect the bumpiness and the scale in a positive way. 0.2 for smooth tight porous bone (such as the skull) and 2.5 for more rough and porous bone, such as the sacrum in the image.
Shader has only been tested in Maya 7 using Maya software render. For best results use only one spot light (no default lights) with a linear decay and intensity around 100. Give or take 50.
*%*%*%*%*%*% UPDATE*%*%*%*%*%*%*% set the reflections to 0.1 instead of 1.0 in Maya 2008, this will correct the tin foil look that is generated otherwise. *%*%*%*%*%*% UPDATE*%*%*%*%*%*%*%
