Bones needed ?

Hi,
I am a beginner in rigging so I'm not sure I understood how to use this plugin (which seems amazing !).
I installed it without any issue, but once I'm trying it ...well, it dosesn't work.
I am using maya 2016, I used a shared rig to try it out, selected the geometry, selected one of the control, and some faces around the control/bone but once I click Setup it doesn't seem to change anything to the way the skinning is reacting.
Any idear what I'm doing wrong ??
Help would be much appreciated.
