Deleting a smooth proxy on an object can be pretty ugly, and also very tedious. I wrote this script to facilitate that process a little.
It tries to take care of all smooth proxy related stuff. Such as ungrouping the smooth proxy group and removing the layers created by the smooth proxy, aswell as reconnecting geometry to a shader if there's not one already connected.
Install:
source the script, select the BASE object only, and run deleteSmoothProxy;
