Scatter is the mel script everyone should do themselves as it represents the most simple possible mel toolset.
And yes mel is sytem independent unless it contains sytem calls.
The code here is a EXTREMELY ugly so if you guys are going to learn mel DONT TAKE this code as your example! It does the job is suppose but its hardly worth 5 stars... maybe 2 for the effort. And then -1 for the very sloppy code. Please dont put 5 stars on everything, you ever use.
For the author, you have very many extremely bady designated global vars hanging around. Please move away form this design or youll be cursing the debug time it takes for you in about a motnth or so down the line.
I mean this is one of those scripts that pollutes maya so much that you may need to reconsider restarring after running it. Its like building a house and in the process making more waste than the volume of your house.
