First - terrific script, thanks for sharing it. Tested it out with 2013 and there are some differences in the way it handles image planes which seem to throw the script for a loop. Look forward (hopefully) to a new version, thanks.

Waited over jears of script like this.
I also have Problems in Maya 2013. it dont opend a window after selecting a image.
And in Maya 2012 i have a problem with my Hypershade after using this Script.
i get this error Message when i open a Hypershade:
HypershadeWindow;
