Thanks A Lot! Very well designed. Notes for newbies like me: 1) To run the script from command line: source reNameIt; 2) You can keep this tool open while reselecting objects to rename. Suggestion to author: Add the Hierarchy/Selected/All options to the top (Name It) section. Edit 06/08 Just did a search to find a tool to reorder attributes - I missed that when I downloaded this tool months ago. Reordering works great. Doesn't break connections. Thanks again.

Brian Sorry for the late answer here but for a reason I don't know my email client blocked out the Highend 3d notifications and I didn't know you have fixed the bug. It runs successfully now.Thank U for your time and interest.

No matter if I'm working in 2 or 3 'D's I like to have my objects labelled correctly and reNameIt 1.3.0 has enabled me to do that in Maya but now very quickly. Before I found reNameIt I was laboriously going through my scenes and renaming objects one by one. Those days are now over. This script is a must-have for every shelf. Kudos! to our MELjunky.

In about two seconds after I downloaded this, it fixed a really stupid mistake I made. Some of my swaping scripts were dependant on Hierarchy Names and I saved with the new prefix before changing the file name. Dugh ! Great script. Thank You !!!
