Right-click over a skin and select any one vertice of it to see what are the joints affecting it.No need to parse through the component editor.
The script will not work in component mode, so select a vertex by right-clicking and not by pressing F8.Also, it will not work if many vertices are selected at a single time.
The script is very useful , especially when a vertex flies away near to the origin in Maya 6.0 if too many joint influences are on hold. In that case, a user may instantly see by running this script which all joints are influencing that vertex, and can take necessary action(i.e. toggle the hold status of some of the joint influences). Useful , of course, for Maya 5.0 users also, since if too many joint influences are on hold, another joint's influence over a vertex may not be able to change(freezes).
You have to run the script just once. Thereafter, everytime you select a vertice of a skin cluster, a GUI will pop up and you will see only those joints which are influencing it. By default, only those joints will be seen whose influence value is greater than 0.01, if you want to change it just open this file in Notepad and change the number 0.01 to whatever you want.
