Add character to the ball with Squash & Stretch.
- Select the ball and add a Squash deformer. In the Animation dropdown, select Create Deformers>Nonlinear>Squash. A stick representing the deformer appears in the ball.
- Attach the Squash to the ball. In doing so, the deformer will follow the ball as it moves. Select the stick (squashHandle1) and then the ball. Press p.
- Try the Squash. In the Channel Box, under INPUTS, click squash1 and try different values to the Factor attribute.
- Adjust the Squash so the ball is squashed to the floor.
Move the stick (squashHandle1) to Y:0. (See Translate Y in the Channel Box)
Set the follow attributes and values on squash1:
Low Bound: 0
High Bound: 2 - Animate the Factor attribute as you see fit! Remember to adjust the curves in the Graph Editor, if needed!
The next step is to try the Bend deformer to bend the ball in direction of the jump!
Good luck!
Gabriel
