A light wrapping effect:

This is a common technique which is most commonly used in chroma key (blue/green screen) compositing, we are going to introduce a simulated form of spill lighting which will wrap the background layer over our foreground.

10) File In the bgPass. With the Switch Matte from step nine selected create a layer=>over node and connect the iblDome.iff to the background input. Also add a color=> set alpha to the iblDome pass and set its alpha value to : 1, this will be necessary when layering the iblDome pass back over the foreground.

11) Branch a color=>invert node from the Switch Matte node. Set the inverts channels to nnna, so only the alpha is being inverted. With this still selected append a filter=>blur and a layer inside node to this branch.

12) Branch connect the iblDome to the foreground input of the inside node. Connect the blur node to the background input. . Select the over node and append another over node to it. Connect the first over to the background of the second over and the inside node to the foreground of the second over node. Check The Diagram for clarification

This diagram shows the result of changing the blur value. You can see the image on the right has a nicer halo like integration. There is generally a sweet spot for blur amount. Tweak it till you find a happy result.

Depth of Field effect:

DOF is an emulation of a real-world camera effect. As such one should always try to find real reference for lens focus and falloff. DOF can add a lot to a shot but, as with lens flares, done poorly it can look really forced. We will be using iDefocus which gives a very good defocus effect but as a result is quite slow.

File In the depthPass. With the final over node selected create a filter=> iDefocus node. Connect the depthPass to the controlImg input of the iDefocus. Set the shape to fast box (this is just for testing!) and set the x Pixels to 10. You should see a really odd effect. This is because the iDefocus defaults to alpha as the control channel. Change the control channel to r,g or b and this should start to look right. Tweak percentage and pixel values to taste.

The Final Result after some tweaks to the light colours and some grading!
