Feature Request

additional command for prefix control

Status:pending

Hi Dustin

so, I've got this idea when I was building my rig, while in step 3.1: Generate rig tab we have the option to '' ad '' prefix name to the rig, so, my question is could it be possible to have option for removal, like '' delete prefix '' or '' remove prefix '' or what ever you think name should be. I think this is very handy in case someone makes a mistake with prefixes, or just wants to remove them all together.

all best, thx for reading and take care man

This is actually not an easy thing to do. There are a lot of nodes in the scene, and everything has dependencies. There are also a lot of custom strings that rely somewhat on the names. Also, there are constraint weights and other things that are used my the RRM_Selector tool that would also have to be fixed if the prefix changes. So not only is it the node names, but it is the channel names and string value names that would need to be updated. Also, changing the names of the joints will also make it much trickier to re-load the weights on rebuild.

It may be possible, but it would take a considerable amount of code to ensure the rig functions properly. Not sure if or when I would get to that.

    Hi Dustin

Thank you for your reply. I think I understand the problem, with all the dependecies you mentioned here writing such a sript would take tons of time, maybe even require '' re-design '' for the current RRM and Selector tools as well.Well, had to ask anyway, hope you don't mind. Maybe someone somewhere writes a powerful script that is pretty smart and knows how to brute-force without destroying anything ( silly to use brute force and non-destruction in the same sentance..hehe )
Anyhow, many thx, hope ur doin well and take care m8.
