Feature Request

Better/easier ik/fk match process?

Hey Dustin. Dont get me wrong, I STILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE your script and I still feel its the best rigging script that I have ever used by far. Only problem I just noticed, is when I want to have more than one character in the scene, the ik/fk matching doesnt work. I know that the Academy of Arts "NORMAN" rig uses just a SINGLE shelf button for the ik/fk match and that one shelf button works on however many NORMANS you may have in one scene. It would also be nice to have just one button that handles the matching process cuz I still find myself sometimes unsure as to what I am matching to what with the way it is now and the drop down menu style. But if it were just a single button that you press it would be much more user friendly i think. Thanks again so much for all your hard work on this script! Keep up the good work. So basically, I guess

Hey Ryan, That is great advice. Rather than a shelf button, I am planning on building a UI for improving the work flow for animators, and the IK/FK switch will be a part of that, and I will be taking it off the IK/FK switch controls. The summers are always tougher to get work done, but stay tuned! It's in the works! :) Dustin

Hi Ryan, In version 1.2.0, there is a second file now in the download called DSN_RapidAnim.mel. This script has an interface which, among other things, has an ik/fk match. This one is designed to work based on which rig you have selected. If you have any control of a rig selected, just turn on which ik/fk you want to match to (a check box for each arm and leg), and then there are two buttons; one for "IK to FK", and the other is "FK to IK". For this to work, I had to basically rewrite the entire script. Because you have to give your character a name. This functionality also allows you to have multiple rigs generated in the same scene, without having to use referencing or importing. The UI is still really basic right now, but I will be adding more stuff to it as I go. Dustin
