Dustin Nelson said over 10 years ago:

This is expected behaviour. When FollowFK is off, the joints follow the ribbon spline system. To see this more clearly, go into wireframe and you will see the curve that runs along the length of the spline module. The reason the spline is like this is so the animator can get really cartoony deformation in the spline. So translating the TopIKCtrl of the MidIKCtrl (and any FKCtrl as well) will move the spline in a much more fluid direction. If you do not want this behaviour, then turn on the "Follow FKCtrl" attribute. Now, each joint will be stuck to its corresponding controller and you will no longer have the cartoony-style of deformation. -Dustin
